Question regarding fitting new forestay in a Colinbrook Furl

The standing rigging on my (new to me) LM28 is 20 years old and I plan to renew it all this winter.
From discussions with a rigger it seems that there is a problem with fitting a new forestay on a Colinbrook Furling gear in that the new forestay can only be machine swaged at one end with the lower one being made up on site.  I presume this is with some form of Stalok.

My question is, has anyone carried out this task and if so, how easy is to get the Colinbrook Furling drum separated from the foil in order to separate the forestay from the drum.

I think you will find it is 'Colnebrook', but often mis-spelt as Colnbrook, Colebrook, Colbrook, Colinbrook, etc. (Further complicated by a similar, but simpler, system branded 'Cooney'.)

I can't answer myself, but there seems to be quite a few threads on YBW with info that might help you, including some pics and copies of the original (rather sparse) 'manual'. From what I've just read there may be (at least) two models, one with ball bearings, and another with plain bearings.

Thank you for your reply, interesting comments in the YBW forum. I think I may have an issue getting the drum and foil separated as it is 20 years since the unit was last dismantled. Problem will be stainless steel screws into aluminium. Bit of gentle heat followed by Plus Gas then a bit of gentle persuasion perhaps.
