Last summer, just after we arrived in our homewaters with our new purchased boat, we made a trip to Antwerp. its one of our favorite destinations.
We start at our homewater at Veersemeer with a breakfast as always.
After laeving the harbour we sail over the Veersemeer to the lock to the Oosterschelde near Kats. We enjoy the nice sail but we have to make speed because we want catch the tide on the river Westerschelde . So soon we arrived at Wemeldinge to enter the Canal to Hansweert
In the Hansweert lock.
After anoder lock we sail up the river and had a nice sail with the tidal stream to Antwerp. Its is nice sailing there but be careful watching the busy trafic of barges and container vessels. They have to earn money so the are sailing fast. As long as jou stay outside the fairway and keep a sharp lookout and a ear to the VHF its no problem.
Arriving at Antwerp roads!
At the cityfront.
In Antwerp we choose to moore at the Jachthaven Antwerpen on the Linker oever. Its a tiny place with a tidal lockdoor only opens at HW. To enter the city we start the folding bikes and in 10 minutes jou can be in the center true the Annatunnel. Antwerp is a nice city with everiting jou can expect in a worldcity. There are nice cafe's and restaurants, shops and a big market at sundaymornig to visit. If you want to visit it someday jou can contact me for more details and advise.
