Hello LM owners, Who has an LM27 in the south of UK, Wales, or Scotland and wants to enjoy sailing in Netherlands but without channel crossing? Growing slightly older we still want to sail to the UK but we don't like to deal with everlasting southwesterly winds and busy shippinglanes. We thought to our selves: why not swap boats with a LMowner in the UK for a few weeks? (3-4). I assume it will take some trust in each other. But who can one trust better than someone who is well experienced with the same ship? Our LM 27 is well maintained, has a strong 36 pk Volvo penta en has its homeport on the beautifull Frysian lakes in the north of the Netherlands. The IJsselmeer lake can be reached in 1,5 hour and the Sands with their beautifull islands are nearby as well (appr. 4 hours). The Frysian lakes theirselves are a wounderfull area for easy sailing, anchoring, free berths in nature, nice towns. Especcially when there are youg sailors aboard ( like our grandchildren).
This is a great idea. Last year we took Marguerite to Holland in June and had a lovely trip, except for the North Sea crossings. Very tempting to offer Marguerite to you but: - she is up for sale and might have gone by the time you want her; and - we sail on the East coast of England, not the South, which is what you are asking for. So good luck and I hope that you find a suitable partner for an exchange. Charles
Thank you both. I think it will take a bit more time to get a match. But the fact that you see it as a positive suggestion somehow gives me good faith. Maybe it needs some more 'networking". Tthe idea is simple: you dont lent your boat to just anyone, but who can you trust more then a person in who's boat you're sailing yourself
Please pass it on andm may be we will be lucky. Anyway we are prepairing for a summerholiday to the German sands and Helgoland. But if there is somebody who is keen on a temporarely swap we can change the plan over night.
If one is prepared to adjust the sails to the wind, every port is sailable ( I'm not sure that makes sense in Eglish but it is a Dutch saying)
It makes perfect sense. There is a similar saying in English, but with a slightly different meaning: "You can't change the wind, but you can adjust the sails". Hope that you find a suitable match soon and that this sort of exchange becomes a regular occurrence for many of our members. Charles
