I have an LM23 but I’m thinking of buying an LM27. Howere I have my boat in central Stockholm and have to pass a bridge that allows a height of 11 meters and its only open every half hour. My LM23 can pass under the bridge which is nice not to have to wait for the bridge to open. However I haven’t found any data for how tall the LM27 is from the waterline to the mast top. I hope someone on this forum may help me.
I don't think you will get under that bridge. (Am I right in thinking Stockholm has negligible tidal height variation?) The standard LM27 mast length is about 9.8 metres. I would guess the mast is mounted perhaps around 2 metres above the waterline, so that would give an air draft of about 12 metres, plus any additional height for VHF aerial etc. on top of the mast.
Perhaps you could convert an LM27 to gunter rig or gaff rig to reduce the air draft!
The Stockholm area looks a very interesting cruising ground.
It seems the mast will be too high. Think I will keep the LM23 for a while as I can pass under the bridge without having to adjust to its opening times. I really would like a LM27 as the LM23 is just too small. The LM23 is like having a pair of underwear on that are two sizes too small. You can get them on but you can´t move without it hurts
Your´re right, there is almost no tide in Stockholm the water hight can differ upto 1 meter but its over longer periods. usually I would say the difference is between 50-80 cm.
The Stockholm Archipelago is really nice. There are thousand of small islands and as we have "General Public Rights" which allow one to dock on every island and stay over night as long as there is no house in sight (which most of the islands don´t have) its perfect sailing ground as you can find new places to dock everywhere. The LM27 would be a perfect sailing boat here with its long keel which allow to reach places with lower depth.
I keep dreaming of a LM27 and maybe I should find a place further out in the archipelago to have it instead of 150 meter from my apartment as I have it today. That would solve the bridge problem anyway.

Having a boat 150 meters away from your home is a huge advantage, I would have thought. Waiting a maximum half an hour for a bridge lift would not be so bad, would it?
I checked the bridge height and opening times more thorough and the height is 11.8 meters so maybe I could squeeze an LM27 below it. The opening times was not every half hour but once every half hour between 06:30 to 23:30. And as we mostly spent our time in the boat 20-30 NM away from the boat place its around 4-6 hours in the boat with the LM23 and it would be nice to not have to have to stress home a nice Sunday evening just to make it to the last bridge opening.
