Recently, I found this piece of metal broken into two parts. One half was found on the bottom of the wheelhouse of my LM32, the other one in the top drawer of the pantry. Are there any ideas where this part might be missing? Thanks in advance! Andreas
Those parts look like shaft keys. Maybe they are from the helm release mechanism? I have not seen parts like that on my 1984 LM32. I've included photos of the stern seat I built in order to see over the house.

Hi Chris, thank you very much for your reply. Since on my 1979 LM32 the release mechanism is located under the poop deck this suggestion is not very likely. I really like the design of your elevated helmsman seat. With my height of 1.94m I can nicely sit on the rim of the poop deck and look thru the cockpit windows but still under the genoa. A perfect match, my LM and me! regards, Andreas
Hi Andreas - glad you like the stern seat! It was easy to build from 1 x 2 inch oak, with 2 folding posts either side of the tiller socket. The view over the house is great, as I have a high cut genoa. I am the same height as you,, and we sail in a lot of traffic here in Annapolis, so forward vision at all times is really important. You can see how stressful the sailing is in this photo:
Okay, I‘ll give it a trial. I still have some excess planks of tigerwood stored in my garage from a patio project many years ago. Next wintertime I‘ll cut two planks and a suitable support. This might end in better vision free of charge...
