Will be purchasing a new Main and Genoa sail for my LM 32 this winter. Does anyone have any sail dimension data? Do you have any recommended manufacturers? Has anyone dealt with Resen Sails in Denmark? resensails.eu
The main and 150% genoa that came with my 1983 LM32 are by Green Sails. I believe that these are the original sails, but I don't know that for certain. They are still in business: www.greensails.dk/home.html
I don't have measures for my mainsail on hand, but I did measure my 150% roller furling genoa earlier this summer and it measures as follows:
Luff: 37' 6" Leach: 37' 6" Foot: 18' 9"
LP - Luff Perpendicular for my 150% genoa = 18' 0" (length of a line perpendicular to the luff, to the sail's clew.)
If you desire the measures of the mainsail, let me know and I could get them for you next time I'm at the boat.
However, I think that everyone purchasing new sails, should have their sail maker or their sail broker measure their specific boat, and have a detailed discussion with them regarding: materials selection (cloth types, weights, finishes, etc., attachment options for sail luff to mast and/or forestay, number of reef points, types of cringles (cunningham, outhaul, and reef), options such as draft stripes, etc., all in consideration of the nature of the sailing you do (racing/cruising/etc.), and the typical wind conditions you are likely to sail in.
My boat came with a document named: "Instructions for LM30 and LM32 - Trimming of rigging and sail balance." It discusses which sails to use and how much to reef those sails for various wind speeds. It also discusses mast bend for various wind conditions, but my rigging does not include an adjustable back stay. If you don't have a copy of this document, I'd be happy to share it with you.
The reason I made these genoa measures, was to figure out how much to furl my 150% genoa under various wind speeds, to achieve the sail areas noted in the LM sales brochure, and in the sail rigging and balance document noted above.
The areas for the various foresails (according to the sales brochure) are: - Genoa #1 - 371 sq ft / 34.5 m2, - Genoa #2 - 290 sq ft / 26.9 m2, - Storm Jib / Genoa #3 - 161 sq ft / 15.0 m2.
- Mainsail - 204 sq ft.
This sales brochure for LM30's and 32's is available elsewhere on this forum, but I'm not sure where. Let me know if you can't find it and want a copy. When I came across it, I downloaded a copy and saved it as a pdf on my pc.
Using trigonometry, I was able to determine how much to reef my 150% genoa to achieve these target sail areas. If you purchase a 150% genoa of the same size as mine, I'd be happy to share the full calculations with you, but here is the final result: - 0.6m furled along foot, 5m unfurled = the same sail area as a genoa #2. - 0.9m furled, 4.7m unfurled = 100% jib. - 1.7m furled, 3.9m unfurled = Storm Jib / Genoa #3.
I was also able to determine that a 100% jib would equal 241 sq ft / 22.4 m2.
I did buy a mainsail from North Sails for my last boat, and was very pleased with that sail, but I only kept that boat for about two years after buying the new main so can't comment on it's long term service. They are a reputable sail maker though...

I forgot to include this link in the email above. (Although their sail areas are slightly different than those in the LM sales brochure.) Use Boat Type = LM and check the motorsailors box to get to the LM32.
Schutlz sailmakers (in Denmark) used to supply original equipment covers (certainly) and (I think) sails to LM.
I have bought covers from them, got good service and a quality product.
Looking at their website they seem to specifically mention sails for LMs, but don't provide the detailed/prices on the website. They now seem have some tie up for sails with Hood, but I'm not clear whether that is just the sail material they use.
