Can any members give information/lit. please. We have a mast head flat dome tv aerial, cable runs back to main cabin and terminates to a grey cylinder unit about 10 c/m long x 7 cm.dia mounted at back of bulkhead Presume the unit is a transformer !. Would appreciate any guidance, unit does not appear to have any power fed to it.
Hi Wilhelm, The unit is probably a matching transformer to properly match the output of the aerial to the 75 Ohm impedance of the tv tuner, probably required in view of the long cable run from the mast head. The antenna will generate a signal at max voltage/min current at it's output over the required reception range for the input stage of the TV but this may become degraded by losses in the coax over a long run and the transformer is there to correct this.
