I would be extremely grateful if anyone can supply me with a diagram and details of the correct arrangement / routing and connections for all the Running Rigging.
This particularly applies to the reefing system on this boat as with the existing arrangement I cannot understand how it works.
Before anyone can give you the advice you are after they will have to know what the reefing system is on your boat. They are very often not the original ones that the boat maker fitted. Does your main sail roll away into the mast or the boom? If not, is there quite a substantial boom with all the reefing control lines led back to the cockpit, in which case it is probably single line reefing; or do the reefing lines end at the mast, in which case it is probably standard slab reefing? Over to you for the moment. Charles
To make my original enquiry more valid I will try to explain the existing running rigging arrangement ( as I understand it ) in more detail.. I apologise for my novice nautical terminology should it cause any confusion.
..The Main sail has no in Mast or Boom furling system..The control lines run back to an external twin Jammer Block either side of the Cockpit. ..The foresail has a Furlex 200S furling system.
The running rigging lines as existing are as follows.. STARBOARD side running through a twin Jammer Block the we have 2 lines. The first is the Main Sail Halyard the second is the Main Sail Reefing. Running through the external eye of the Jamming Block we have a third line which is one of the Foresail Sheets.
On the PORT side running through the twin Jammer Block there is only a single line which is the Foresail Halyard.. The other available jammer route is not used ? Not sure the reason why the Foresail Halyard to a rigid furling system is running through the Jammer.? and also why the other jammer is not in use and what line should normally be rub through it.? Running through the outside eye of this Jammer Block is the other Foresail Sheet.
There is another Halyard on deck running to a high mast outlet presumably for a Spinnaker ?
There does not appear to be any provision for a line to control Outhaul from the Clew so unsure of how you tension the Main Sail and control the Outhaul.
Be very grateful for any help / advise from other LM 28 owners and and comparisons with their running rigging setups.
Hi I have a lm 28 for two years my reefing on main sail is single line ie reef 1 and 2 led back to cockpit jammers the sheet runs to pulley at base of mast ,then sheet splits into two sheets and goes over pullies inside boom I think ? Then up through eyelets on main sail I think? My mast and boom not on boat at moment , my mast and boom made by Jon mast ,boat is 1986 . I have not had this reefing system work very good but hope this helps a bit. I hope to get it working properly this coming season. John
