My LM28 is called Tammie and was purchased on the West Coast of Scotland at Creran Marine. I have now brought her down by road to Troon Yacht Haven where I will be refurbishing the yacht with a view to launching April 21st 2020 (my 75th birthday) So far we have emptied the yacht of all her equipment and boxes of spares. Oven and fridge have been removed for cleaning and testing, interior has been steam cleaned to remove some black mould.
List of other tasks so far identified
Fit electric windlass
Fit new toilet
Review and modify toilet holding tank
Fit new helmsman seat
Reinstall oven and fridge
Sand and varnish steering wheel
Strengthen floor in main cabin which is a bit "springy"
Strengthen main cabin table support
Sand (very carefully) teak and holly deck in wheelhouse and cockpit
Sand (even more carefully) all woodwork in wheelhouse and cockpit
Stain and varnish all woodwork to return yellowed wood to original colour
Re-veneer or replace mini bulkheads between wheelhouse and cockpit
Review some aspects of electrical installation and add fuses where required
Strip, clean and grease all seacocks
Carry out gas check of gas lines to cooker.
Investigate rudder tube/gland (if fitted)
Renew running rigging where required
Inspect and renew standing rigging as required
Valet mainsail, stackpack and Genoa
Service engine and saildrive
If any members have carried out any of the above, I would be very grateful for any advice or guidance on any of the above.
Me, I have been buiding / rebuilding boats for over 60 years and still learning new skills.
