The two blue upper and lower stripes on my 1984 LM28 are a bit scuffed in places. I was planning to paint them with two pack paint but I have just noticed that on a 1998 survey on the boat, the surveyor described them as being vinyl.
I have examined the stripes and cannot feel a step between the blue stripes and the rest of the hull. To me, the stripes feel more like part of the gel coat which was applied to the mould before the main white gel coat was applied.
Can anyone advise me as to the nature of the blue stripes.
Thanks Mick, I was sure the stripes were not vinyl or painted. I have tried polishing up but the white is showing through. Might try filling in the scores with paint and fine artist brush.
I inherited from the previous owner of my boat a part used tin of blue paint that I am guessing was used to touch up the blue stripes. In case the information is of any use, this is Blakes (now Hempel) 34660 'True Blue'. Note I haven't checked how close a colour the paint is to that on the stripe.
