Many a new LM owner need a place to find spare parts. In LM-country, (Denmark) quite a few places exist where you still can find information and parts. Below I have listed some well known places:
Hoods and canopy The very best in the world is Schultz Kalecher in Kolding, Denmark. They have hoods for all LM models and their quality is the best. If you are a member of the Danish "LMklub" they give you a 10% price reduction. Find Schultz Kalecher here: www.schultz-kalecher.dk
Bukh Engines Almost all LMs were delivered with either a Bukh DV20 or a DV36 (LM30/32) or Volvo Penta MD11/MD17 (some newer models with VP2003) The Bukh factory is still running on full speed as they are producing engines to rescue boats and is one of the few firms having all SOLAS approvals. (A Bukh can operate inverted for 30 seconds) Find the factory here: bukh.dk.
The older Bukhs are still very popular and 2 Danish firms have become specialists in renovating and selling spare parts.
The first is "Løkken Smede- og Maskinværksted" - find their web page here: www.lsm-diesel.dk/index2.htm
The second is "K.K.E Motorer" - and their web page is here: www.kkemotorer.dk
Mast and rigging. Most LMs were delivered with mast and rigging made by JohnMast. A well known firm in Denmark. They still exists, are very helpful and often have the appropriate mast- and boom spare parts, spreader and -roots mounts plus stays. Their web page is in Danish and English and find it here: www.johnmast.dk
General spare parts. Two firms were specialists in all LM spare parts. When the factory closed, they bought all remaining things on stock and still have quite a few left.
The first is "Masnedø Marinecenter" who still have many spare parts to the rails. Example mounts and struts for the railing. Find their web page here: masnedoe.dk
The other is "Kolding Marinecenter". They were the main dealer of LMs in those days, and still knows a lot and have some spare parts. They have all the original gel coat colour and can provide the right colour when you do repairs in the coat. Each year/model have it’s own and specific colour code for hull, deck, the blue line and so on. Their web page is here: koldingmarine.dk
A third firm can provide the plastic lids - red and blue - for diesel and water tanks. The firm is "Marinelageret" and web page is: marinelageret.dk
Hatches - and windows. The originals can no longer be found anywhere. A firm in Denmark has specialised in making hatches and windows to most of the popular boats in Denmark. You can order a complete set of windows inclusive rubber/fastener for the LM with rubber sealed windows and they also provide windows for the aluminium fastened types. Also sliding hatches can be made.
The firm's name is "Plexifix" and the web page is here: www.plexifix.dk
All plywood and boards have disappeared and you have to be your own carpenter.
Stoves and burners make "Cramer" are no longer available and you have to find some at your local camping shops - selling parts for auto campers.
Refrigerators can still be found made by the "original" firm. The name is "Dometic" and can be found world wide in the right dimensions. (I recently bought a "draw out model" with a drawer instead of a normal door. Super fine and really good for sailing - but expencive.
Propellers. Can be found every where in the world. On LM klubben's web page you can find all propeller sizes corresponding to the LM model and engine installed in the Library (Biblioteket) If you are looking for a folding propeller a Danish firm "Flexofold" came out in the test with very fine results and their price is fair but still a folding costs a lot. My LM28 had a new last year - 3 bladed 15x10-3L - and it cost 1380Pounds. The firm's web page is here: flexofold.com and you can read the test here: www.flexofold.com/upload_dir/docs/Test_YachtingMonthly_low.pdf
Knowledge. Quite a few places to look.
The Danish "LMklubben" is really a place to look for all kind of information. They have an online library, (Danish: Bibliotek) where you can find all information about the specific LM models. Production dates, numbers, test results, pictures and paintings for free download. Length, height, displacement, rigging, propeller size and so on. To be able to log on the web page you need to be member of the LMklubben. It will cost 150 DKR a year (17 pounds) and membership can be made online. Look here: lmklubben.dk
On Facebook a more casual forum can be found and questions can be made online - and you may have at least 3 answers to each. The Facebook name is "LM klubben and is here: www.facebook.com/groups/579994708771153
Also on Facebook a forum for Bukh engines can be found. Really a huge amount of information and lots of good advice. Look for "Bukh marinemotor" or copy/paste this: www.facebook.com/groups/141469733063360
