I have a LM 30 i would like to know how to roll up the stern canopy and get it under the lip by the wheelhouse doors and support it with the canopy arch i have tried to do this but it seems to be to big to under the lip by the wheelhouse doors can some one help me please a video link would be great.
Hi Dave & Yvonne, How it works probably depends on who made it. On Lone Star I have two covers - a sheet that slides in a track under the rear sill of the wheelhouse and is held over the cockpit combing with press on clips - we only use this for winter lay up as the cockpit can't be used with it on, The other is a full headroom and slides into a different track under the rear sill of the wheelhouse - folds up neatly when sailing. |I'll take some photo's later this week and post them for you to see. Regards, |John
If your canopy is the same as that on my 1983 LM32, then the base of the canopy support bar is mounted on sliding tracks mounted on the forward ends of the cockpit moulding, one track on each side / end of the support bar. After sliding the support bar all the way aft in its tracks on both sides, I flip the back and side windows over the top of the canvas roof, then fold the whole thing in half, keeping it all as flat as possible throughout. Roll this all around the support bar as tight as you can, and the whole sausage will slide under the pilothouse roof overhang. Slide the canopy support bar forward in it's tracks, and you should have achieved a tidy roll neatly tucked under the pilothouse roof. To unroll, first slide the support bar bases aft, and the whole thing will unravel. It sounds much harder than it is.
Just to muddy the waters! On my 30, the canopy support bar is tensioned by sliding it AFT! So opposite to Brian's set up, the sliders come forward and then the procedure is exactly as described. As Brian says, it sounds a lot more complicated than it is.
