I believe that the pilothouse handrails, the cabin top handrails, and the wooden trim on the slope from the pilothouse top to the cockpit coamings, are indeed teak. I tried oil, didn't like the result. I now use Cetol Marine Light, a durable Interlux product. I have to recoat every two years. It won't last three years without cracking here on the wild wet coast of British Columbia, which requires a total re-sand and reapplication. (Climate much like Britain, but very much drier this year! Climate change I guess.)
Many thanks Brian & Glenda I will give the Cetol a try We have had a high pressure area just to the west of the uk for weeks now - great if you live in the West but here on the East coast it brings cold northerly’s - so have not been out much It’s due to change at the weekend so planning some sails Thanks & happy summer sailing John
