Can anyone tell me where I can source/can fabricate a mechanism which will enable me to easily switch from tiller to wheel on my LM27. Currently I have a stainless pin which connects the cable from the wheel to the tiller. If I wish to use the tiller and disconnect the wheel I have to move the folded table, centre the rudder then remove the pin. Returning steering to the wheel is more difficult since I then have to replace the pin in a difficult to access place , often with the boat rolling.
I have thought about cutting a hand sized hole in the after deck to improve access, covering this with a small circular hatch, but I’m keen to know how other LM27 owners have solved this problem.
The boat was one of the few built by Scan Yachts so earlier Danish versions may have a better system.
I don't know if this appropriate for LM27 but the pictures attached show my workaround on my LM30. It's a line led from the hole in the clutch hinge where the original wire was attached to a jam cleat accessible in the horizontal well at the after end of the cockpit seat. On three outings so far it's worked well.
